After a busy January, releasing my fifth book El Alto, February will allow me to return to my normal writing routine.
Living in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia, has fortunately meant that our lives have remained relatively unchanged by current world events. I spend much of each day in my office writing, with our two female Bearded Collies, Elsa (six years) and Kuura (3 years), curled up beside me on the cool stone floor out of the typical 30+ Celsius summer heat outside. At around 4 pm the girls remind me that it is time for our walk up to our local woodland park where we see plenty of wildlife, such as Kangaroos, Koalas, wild Deer (not native to Australia), Parrots, Kookaburras and numerous other birds. Elsa and Kuura love sniffing out their smells at the park. As always, I am happy to respond to questions about my books and my writing.

Cheers Suzie :) Ellen Williams runs for the Outback to escape her disintegrating life, only to run into a whole new set of problems wrapped around Alexander McKenzie
Ellen Williams needs to disappear. Her bright career as an international jockey is washed away as she’s implicated in a horse doping scam—one of the worst crimes in the racing world. Humiliated, alone, and on the run, she answers a job advertisement in a place that’s far from her working life. The job, however, is everything that Ellen isn’t—cook and housekeeper on one of the largest Cattle Stations in Australia. Alexander McKenzie is a desperate man. His top hand will quit if he doesn’t find a suitable housekeeper and cook. However, Alexander knows he’s made a mistake hiring Ellen—she’s going to be like the last four young women he fired—suffering through the trials of the Outback to hunt a wealthy husband and the last thing Alexander needs is a wife. Ellen knows from experience that men are nothing but liars, and trouble—they destroy careers—and hearts. She’ll not let the likes of Alexander McKenzie beat her, after all how hard can managing a house and kitchen be? Amid the lies and secrets that come with cattle rustlers and racehorses, Ellen must find her place in a new world. But when Ellen’s past catches up with her, Alexander’s intervention will either bring their lives together or explode them apart! The first book in the Racing series Racing Dream is now available on Amazon
A PERSONAL DREAM, A PASSIONATE LOVE, AND A STACK OF SECRETS LEADS TO DISASTER Annabel Martin dreams of winning a Melbourne Cup—the highest honor for any jockey in Australia. When a top trainer offers her a ride on the stallion, Reckless Night, Annabel hesitates only because her friend, James McKenzie is the usual jockey. But not only is James’s leg broken, but the trainer offers her a sweetener: if she wins the race, she can ride the horse through the Spring Campaign and on to the Melbourne Cup. Chasing her dreams earns Annabel an enemy in Damon Black—the man second to James, and the jockey who should have been in line to ride Reckless Night. As Annabel begins her new job, a shady trainer drags Annabel’s father into the middle of a horse swapping scam. Because of her connection to both horses, Annabel is implicated—just as Damon Black begins to become dangerous, and just as she and James become more than friends. A fire at the stables sends James to the hospital, where Annabel’s possible involvement in the scheme is laid out in front of him. Not only was his dream of the Melbourne Cup snatched from him, but the woman he loves may not be who she says she is. As Annabel’s world implodes, she faces her father’s shady connections, a possible riding ban, and losing the man she loves. But Annabel’s a woman who has survived as a top jockey in a man’s world, and she has no intention of letting her dreams be lost—no matter how high the bets are against her. |
