The 2013 Romance Writers of Australia Riding the Waves conference, held at Fremantle Western Australia, came to a close yesterday.
The committee brought together a good mix of guest speakers, workshop presenters, editors and agents. I enjoyed Kim Hudson’s workshop, Venus on the Half Shell. Loved the cards she provided and managed to plot a story with a fellow writer. Later Kim ran the Sunday breakout session, The Voyage of a Writer. New York Times bestselling author, Julia Quinn, kept us all amused in her key note address and further enthralled with Evoking the Scene, Effective Dialogue for Writers and Hanging Ten where she answered numerous questions from the floor. Best Selling author and Editorial Director, Nina Bruhn gave an interesting account of Blake Snyder’s, Save the Cat. The Survivor Submission Island was a great concept and I would like to see this continued at future conferences. Thank you to the RWA, the Conference Team and volunteers for making Riding the Waves such a successful event – roll on the 2014 conference at Homebush, Sydney!
