On the 15th August I am off to the Romance Writers of Australia’s 21st annual conference, ‘Diamonds are Forever’ being held on the Gold Coast.
I have two pitches this year, the first with Larissa Edwards of Simon and Schuster Australia and the second with Beverley Cousins of Random House. All very scary and the usual question arises of how to put 100,000 words into a paragraph to hook them? Writing the story seems to be the easiest part of the process. This year I am attending Alexandra Sokoloff’s Screenwriting Tricks workshops on the Friday and Saturday. I am intrigued to understand how screenwriters take a novel and adapt it for the big screen. The Friday night cocktail party sponsored by Harlequin is always a lot of fun and the theme is the Fifties – lots of scope to think of an outfit. And the Saturday RWA Awards Dinner gives everyone a chance to dress up. Hope to meet some of you there.
